Host a Game Night
Game nights are a fun and exciting way to spend a free night or kickstart your weekend. Invite your friends over to get competitive or enjoy a leisurely evening playing games! In this week’s Prairie View at Village West Blog, we have tips on how to host a successful game night.
Food and Drink
Though people come to game nights for the games, give them a better time by providing something to munch on. While chips are a popular choice, keep in mind that you may not want people handling greasy foods and touching game components. Keep hand sanitizer and napkins readily available, or try other popular snacks, such as pretzels, crackers, M&Ms, and other treats that won’t leave much residue on cards or game pieces. If you’re going to make these game nights a regular occurance, you can invite your guests to bring some of their favorite treats to give yourself a break.
Seats and Tables
A simple way to help your guests have an enjoyable time is by providing adequate seating and ample space to play the games you’ve prepared. Comfort is an important part of your guests’ experience. Games can take anywhere from minutes to hours to complete, so providing comfortable seats can really make a difference. Though not necessary, you can consider leaving out extra cushions, pillows, and blankets for anyone who needs it.
What’s a game night without games? Help your game night be successful by bringing some games that will involve the whole group. Different games can be engaging and fun for everyone. Try games like Mafia or Cranium. These engage the mind and the rely on observation or general knowledge while keeping a competitive edge. As much fun as you’ve had playing Monopoly, try to stay away from it or games like it. Competitive games can be fun, but remember that too much competition can dampen the mood of the night.
Cooperative games and a night of snacks and fun can bring people together, strengthening existing relationships and forging new ones. Do you have any games to suggest for a game night? Let our Kansas City, KS apartment community know your favorites by leaving a comment below! Thanks for reading!
